There is countless crazy designs that people have made and put into space. The game gained traction I think because who doesn't like making rockets and sending them into space, while at the same time there is the persona/expressions of the Kerbals just adding to the experience. Recommended videos for anyone from just starting to having a lot of playtime is Scott Manley on youtube Shameless plug for the subreddit /r/KerbalSpaceProgram The community is also great to go with it, if you have any questions or problems someone is always willing to help and encourage you along the way. Yes the game can be difficult and hard to master, but at the same time it's making you learn about all the terminology and lingo that goes with it, the game is making you learn as you play. Personally for me it has been the best early purchase and transition into Early Access on Steam - updates, listening to community feedback, and keeping in touch with the players via social media. Having played the game on and off since the early alpha, the game has come a long way.
